Have Fun.  Exercise with a Friend.  Help the Needy.

Join tens of thousands of caring people in more than 100 cities across the country in the ®Friends of the Poor Walk on Saturday, September 25th.  Walk A Mile In My Shoes with your family, your friends, your business associates, or just come together to join in our Walk event at Kennedy High School.  This is an opportunity to have some fun and get some exercise on behalf of the poor in our communities.  We need walkers and donors to make this event a success.  All funds donated will be used by local St. Vincent de Paul volunteers to prevent evictions, hunger, utility shut-offs and more.

Three Ways for Walkers to Sign Up:

1)  Register At Your Local Catholic Church.  Volunteers in most parishes in King County have sign-up information and will be looking for participants after Masses beginning in August, until just before the event.

2)  Register At Kennedy High School on September 25th.  Volunteers will be helping walkers sign up and record their donations at the walk site on the day of the event.  A Waiver Form must be completed by all walkers.  A Guardian Signature is required for walkers under the age of 18.

3)  Register Online.  Complete the on-line registration form by clicking  (Online Registration Form).

Become A Walker  below.  Once you have completed the registration, you will be able to print a Donor Form and a Waiver Form.  Make as many donor forms as you need.

 Why We Walk

We Walk A Mile In My Shoes so that we can:

·         Raise awareness of the many persons in need in our communities.

·         Demonstrate solidarity with the poor and try to understand the difficulties the poor encounter in society and today’s economy.

·         Seek donations for the poor.  100% of the money raised will be used to assist our needy neighbors in King County as a whole, or in the community around the Catholic Church you choose.

Sponsorships

Ask About Business/Organization Sponsorship Opportunities. We are looking for sponsors who are willing to make larger donations in return for the opportunity to set up a booth on the infield grass at the Kennedy track.  We welcome monetary donations and/or donations of food, liquid refreshment, or take-home reminders of the walk and the sponsor.  Please contact us for more information and to sign up.

Ask about Business/Organization Sponsorship Opportunities too.
