St. Vincent de Paul takes calls from people in need Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Trained Helpline Counselors answer the phones, gather basic information, answer questions, and pass on the information to 53 neighborhood St. Vincent de Paul Conferences.  Conference volunteers will contact the caller to schedule a home visit or to discuss what assistance they can provide.  In some areas of King County the caller is given the telephone number of the closest Conference to call directly.  Unfortunately, in a few areas, there is no Conference to offer assistance.

The Helpline Call Center gets 1,500 to 2,500 calls per week or 35 to 50 calls per hour.  During busy times callers often wait so that their calls can be answered in the order they are received.
