Helpline Center
The Society takes calls from people in need Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Several Helpline Counselors answer the phones, gather basic information, answer questions, and pass on the information to neighborhood Conferences. Conference members will contact the caller and will usually visit to offer assistance. In some areas of King County the caller is given the telephone number of the nearby Conference to call directly. And unfortunately in a few areas there is no Conference to offer assistance.
The Helpline Center gets 1,500 to 2,500 calls per week or 35 to 50 calls per hour. During busy times callers often wait so that their calls can be answered in the order they are received.
