Our Programs

Emergency Assistance through St. Vincent de Paul Conferences

Preventing homelessness, hunger, power shut-offs and more in our community

St. Vincent de Paul has 53 neighborhood based Conferences (volunteer groups) in Seattle and King County. Each conference makes home visits to people who contact us for help. Home visits make our outreach unique. Home visits bring compassion and save time and money for those visited, and help St. Vincent de Paul volunteers better tailor our assistance. Whether the need is for rent, food, electricity or gas, or some other need, our neighborhood based Conferences respond. At St. Vincent de Paul our goal is to deal with the initial emergency then shepherd individuals into programs that can bring lasting change into their lives

Helpline Center - Life-line for our neighbors in need

Where do you call if you need help? The St. Vincent de Paul Helpline Center at 206-767-6449 is the place to get help. Our intake specialists 1) listen, 2) connect callers with their local St. Vincent de Paul conference for home visitation, and 3) provide community resources. The Community Information Line (211) referred 19,000 calls to us in 2007 .   We receive more calls than any other agency. We received a total of 29,341 calls for help last year.

Donation Pick-ups - Connecting caring hearts and people in need

If you need to schedule a St. Vincent de Paul truck to come and get your household donations, call our dispatch office at 206-767-9975 option 1 or click here for online scheduling. Our dispatch center also makes home deliveries of some items purchased at our thrift stores for people helped by our local St. Vincent de Paul Conferences.

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores - Stretching your budget. Helping Needy Neighbors. Recycling for Stewardship.

St. Vincent de Paul Council of Seattle/King County operates five thrift stores in Seattle & King County that sell gently used clothing, books, furniture, toys and household items which are sold in our retail stores. When you shop at St. Vincent de Paul’s stores, you help us to help others! Every purchase helps to sustain our work in alleviating human suffering and aiding the poor.

Affordable household merchandise helps many, especially those living on the edge. The neediest in our community receive free items through our Conferences Our stores provide employment and job training skills, too.  Your thrift store shopping supports the environment by extending the useful life of clothing and other items. This past year we recycled more than 680 tons of materials which helped to protect the environment.

Revenue generated by our stores helps to partially fund our programs, which assist tens of thousands of needy people each year. Donate or shop; there is a way for you to make a difference.
