Our Programs
Emergency Assistance through Home Visits by St. Vincent de Paul Conferences
Home Visits prevent eviction, hunger, power shut-offs and more in our community, make assistance accessible, and save time and money for those in need.
Home visits make our outreach unique. St. Vincent de Paul has 53 parish based Conferences (volunteer groups) in neighborhoods throughout Seattle and King County. Each conference makes home visits to people who contact us for help. We prevent eviction, hunger, utility shut-off and more. Home encounters help St. Vincent de Paul volunteers better tailor our assistance and respond with compassion. Then we connect people with programs that can help long-term. Home visits also save time and money for neighbors visited. They don’t have to take off work to visit an assistance office or make special transportation and childcare arrangements or wait in long lines. Home visits provide personalized assistance and remove the barriers that keep people from getting help in their time of crisis.
Where do you call if you need help? The St. Vincent de Paul Helpline Center at 206-767-6449 is the place to contact. Our intake specialists listen, connect callers with their local St. Vincent de Paul conference for home visitation, and provide community resources. The Community Information Line (211) referred more than 27,000 calls to us in 2009—the most of any agency in our community. We received a total of 53,649 calls for help last year.
