Job Description: Greet and welcome Food Bank guests, determine eligibility using drivers’ licenses or identity cards, and sign in or register new guests by entering basic information into our Food Bank database. Explain Food Bank procedures as needed.
Skills Necessary: Basic computer skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills and a customer service orientation. Ability to read fine print on driver’s licenses and other documents. Comfortable in a busy environment. Ability to work on your feet for several hours.
Food Bank Helper
Job Description: Help guests to carry groceries to their cars. Within the Food Bank, help move boxes of food around and stage for distribution. On occasion, help direct traffic to and from the Food Bank during open hours.
Skills Necessary: Volunteers must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects repeatedly throughout their shifts. Courtesy and helpfulness are expected. Closed toe shoes are required.
Job Description: Sort and bag fresh produce. Assist with food distribution and replenish food bins. Tactfully reinforce Food Bank policies regarding the number of items available depending on family size.

Skills Necessary: A background in the military, police or security would be a plus but is not required. Ability to remain calm under pressure and remain courteous at all times. No court-ordered community service for this position. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Food Bank Translators
Job Description: Provide simultaneous foreign language translation from both oral and written sources, especially Chinese, Spanish, Russian and Vietnamese.

Clothing Bank Assistants, Food Bank
Job Description: As part of a team, select useable clothing from various sources and hang for display. During Food Bank open hours, assist clients in locating and selecting clothing appropriate to their needs.
Skills Necessary: Ability to work on your feet for several hours in a busy environment while maintaining your “cool”. Good customer service skills and the ability to work in a team are required. Retail experience is a plus.

Thrift Store Donation Attendant
Job Description: Greet and assist donors in unloading donations from their vehicles. Evaluate donated items to determine if they are acceptable and explain donation criteria to donors. Thank donors and provide a receipt as needed. Sort donations into assigned categories and pack them properly into containers. Maintain donation station ensuring it is clean, orderly and safe. Load and unload trucks as assigned, including garbage, recycling, and route trucks.

Thrift Store Book Specialist
Job Description: Sort donated books and shelf according to genre, alphabetically by author’s name if required. Maintain shelves according to established system. Reshelf misplaced books. Assist customers in locating the books they are looking for and make recommendations, if appropriate. May also work with albums.
Skills Necessary: Basic understanding of book classification and genres (ie. crime fiction, science fiction, non-fiction categories). Ability to alphabetize using the English alphabet. Ability to carry boxes up to 20 lbs. Ability to bend and stretch and work standing for extended periods. No allergies to dust, dirt or pet hair.

Experienced Volunteer Teacher
Job Description: Helps adult learners from poor immigrant communities of Latino origin to begin or continue their primary and secondary education with the goal of GED completion. Multiple learning styles with varying levels of personalized curriculum work plans designed for the success of each individual student. The volunteer instructor will be trained in the use of didactic resources for adult and teen learners with limited English proficiency. Curricula are culturally relevant and accessed through online portal and available in print at Centro Rendu.
Skills Necessary: Spanish Language proficiency and bilingual skills. (Not necessarily required for ESL instruction), Patience, compassion and good people skills, interest in working with immigrant and low income populations, open to learning new teaching styles, teaching and community organizing experience, computer literacy and capability in Word and Excel.
Spanish Speaking Case Management Volunteer Intern
Job Description: The goal of the internship is to support the Case Management staff from Centro Rendu with face-to-face interactions with drop-ins to the Center and with referrals from the Helpline and the Case Management offices in Seattle. Intern supports the Centro Rendu Spanish Case Management program through a culturally relevant Intake, Assessment, Referral, and Follow-up process.
Skills Necessary: Spanish Language proficiency and bilingual skills, patience and compassionate listening skills, strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and flexibility, understanding of or interest in immigrant and low income populations, works collaboratively with other volunteers and with staff members, computer literacy in PC, Word, and Excel, experience working with a community based organization, previous Case Management, counseling or social work experience, open to learning new computer software programs.
Student Volunteer Teacher
Position Description: The goal of the internship is to support the staff from Centro Rendu in their educational goals of the Centro and in developing new programs relevant to the community. The intern will learn new ways of teaching adult and teens of immigrants of Latino descent and will be exposed to a culturally sensitive curriculum that is accessed through an online portal but which is also available in print at Centro Rendu.
